The Zamfara state government has earmarked 30million naira for the rehabilitation of the National Youth Service (NYSC) orientation camp in Tsafe local government area of the state.

The state Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala stated this on Tuesday when he received the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Sulaiman Kazaure, in his office.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazaure was in the state for a one-day official inspection tour of the orientation camp.

Wakkala assured that the state government was committed to good working relationship with the NYSC in view of the corps members’ contributions to the development of the state.

“We have benefited a lot from the NYSC especially in the areas of education, health and youth development which have contributed immensely to the development of the state.

“As part of the state government’s commitments to support the activities of the NYSC in the state, we are planning to renovate and upgrade the orientation camp.

“We already have an estimate of over N30 million for the commencement of the project very soon,” he added.

Earlier, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Sulaiman Kazaure said his visit was meant to appreciate the cordial working relationship between the state and the NYSC.

He said: “We have been receiving good report from the state secretariat of the NYSC, about your kind gesture to the scheme.’’

Kazaure said the primary objective of NYSC was to inculcate discipline in Nigerian Youth, and also to train them in various aspects of human development for the national growth.

He added that such objective required collaboration of and cooperation of all.

“We would continue to sustain this good relationship with the state government and all the stakeholders,’’ he assured.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Malam Ballama Bello, lauded the state government for connecting the permanent orientation camp to the national grid, adding that this gesture had improved the living condition of the corps members.

Bello also expressed delight over the state government’s plans to renovate and upgrade facilities at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Tsafe. (NAN)
