Court

Mr Taiwo Oladepo, on Wednesday prayed an Agege court to dissolve the union between him and his wife of 11 years, over an alleged absence of love and affection in the marriage.

The couple, who reside at No 29, Anthony Nwosu, Ileke Estate, Miran Lagos, have stated their interest to end the marriage.

Mr Taiwo had stated in court that his wife, Mrs Biola was unattentive to him and displayed a disobedient and troublesome attitude which always led them to heated arguments.

He said, “My wife is too troublesome; she is stubborn, arrogant and not submissive. She is also lazy and wayward.

“There has been no peace in this marriage, we live like cat and rat,” he told the court.

He further stated that his wife went out at her own free will without his knowledge and when asked about her movements, she referred him to Google. In her words, “Go and ask Google”.

However, Mrs Biola, in response to the allegations, denied the accusations, claiming that her husband, the petitioner constantly abused her in their home.

According to Biola, the beatings from her husband become unbearable, but she kept enduring because of her kids.

She said, “There was a time his friends tried to caution him about his attitude toward me.

“The beating is unbearable but l kept bearing it because of my children,’’ she said.

Biola also revealed that her husband was involved in illicit relationships with different women who constantly disturbed their marriage.

Biola consented to the marriage dissolution, but appealed to the court to grant her custody of the children, urging that Taiwo would be responsible for the children’s welfare.

The Court President, Mr Philip Williams, adjourned the case till January 31, 2017 for judgment. (NAN)
