Five suspects were on Tuesday arraigned in an Osogbo Magistrates Court for alleged theft of N2.2 Million.
Amusan Musa, 48, Salau Waheed , 45,Hassan Oladipo, 67,Fasaulat Waheed,45, and Saliu Liasu ,45, are facing charges of conspiracy and theft.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olu Abodunrin, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Dec. 13, 2012 at about 12:00pm, at Ofatedo Area in Osogbo.
Abodunrin said the suspects conspired together to steal a sum of N2.2 million from one Mr Bensala Bunyamiu under the pretext to sell a piece of land to him.
He said the suspects refused to return the complainant’s money after series of confrontation and they also threatened to kill the complainant.
He said the offences contravened sections 516, 419, 86 (1) (2) and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34vol.11laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Counsel to the suspects, Mr Lekan Olayiwola , prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko , granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N250,000 and two sureties each in the like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passport size photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned till Jan. 23, 2017, for hearing. (NAN)
