The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, has commended officers and men for their sacrifices in containing the activities of insurgents nationwide.

The CDS commended officers and men   of OPSH for the sacrifices, adding that they still needed to do more.

“You cannot do too much for the system; you must be ready to do more.

“You must do that which you are supposed to do, so that the state and the country will be better off.

“But if you don’t do that which you are supposed to do, the system will suffer for your inefficiency,” he said.

The CDS told the OPSH personnel that it was their responsibility to ensure peace in Plateau and that they must work very hard in their various beats to achieve it.

“If peace is achieved on the Plateau and sustained and structures to maintain peace are put in place, then the task has been accomplished,” the CDS said.\

According to the defence chief, the military is winning war against insurgency in north eastern Nigeria.

He, however,   charged operatives to remain resolute in the fight.

He said that the Boko Haram has been degraded in capacity, adding that they were only managing to carry out some few suicide bombings.

“Insurgency is what usually takes time. But as you are aware, we have degraded the Boko Haram; they cannot carry out strong offensives, they can only carryout isolated ones which are mainly suicide bombing.

“But we are aware of it and we are putting other strategies in place to address some of these issues,” he said.

The CDS said that the Defence Headquarters was doing all it could to cater for the needs of the troops.

“We are addressing some of these logistic needs. We cannot address them at a go, but in piece meal manner and we have operations across the country to take care of,” he said.
