Jamaatul Nasrul Islam (JNI) on Wednesday paid tribute to late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, who died on Monday in hospital in Abuja.
The Secretary General of JNI, Dr Kalid Aliyu, said in a statement made available in Kaduna that the Islamic group received the news of his demise with shock, noting that “but as mortals, we all would die some day.”
“We take consolation that Dasuki, one time secretary-general of JNI, played his part in the development of the Nigerian nation through various platforms of service delivery to humanity.
“Dasuki was indeed unassuming and affable to all that came his way.
“However, our solace lies in Allah the Most High, as His decree cannot be altered.”
Aliyu stated that the late sultan was the first substantive Secretary-General of JNI, appointed in March 1968.
He added that Dasuki had campaigned for the unity of Nigerian Muslims and had responded aptly to issues as they unfolded.
As President-General of JNI, he held sway as the 18th Sultan of Sokoto and championed the cause of Muslims.
“It is our du’a to Allah, the Most Beneficent and the Merciful to forgive the late Sultan Dasuki and grant him Jannatul Firdaus (the garden of bliss).”
The JNI also condoled with the Sultan family, the Sultanate Council under the leadership of His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sokoto State Government and the entire Muslim Ummah. (NAN)
