A former staff of Oceanic Bank, Aliyu Suleiman, has been sentenced to 195 years imprisonment for allegedly stealing the sum of N21million from Albasu Microfinance Bank.
Aliyu was said to have siphoned money entrusted to him through Albasu community order, to take charge of their microfinance bank.
The convict forged signatures of other signatories to the fund to enable him have access to the cash, which he took for his personal use.
The EFCC had first placed a charge against him on September 30th 2014, for theft.
On this note, the Presiding Judge, Justice Northerner sentenced him to serve two years. On each of the first two counts he was charged with a fine of N300,000.
If the convict defaults the fine, he is to serve an additional six-month imprisonment on each count.
From count 45 to 74, the convict was sentenced to a fine of N500,000 or twelve months imprisonment on each count 75 to 105, he is to pay a fine of N200,000 or twelve months imprisonment on each count with the exception of count 97 which appeared to be a duplication.
The sentences are to run concurrently and the convict is to restitute the sum of N14,815,000 to the Albasu Community or spend five more years in prison.
