Emirates Stadium side set sights on youngster who could provide much needed protection to creative Gunners talents.
Arsenal are reportedly lining up a £20m bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba as Arsene Wenger looks to urgently strengthen his Gunners squad according to Sports Direct News.
Arsene Wenger saw his side beaten by Aston Villa at home on the weekend and having failed to spend a single penny in the transfer market thus far this summer the Arsenal manager has predictably come under fire from the Emirates Stadium faithful and as such could feel the need to make a purchase or two before the transfer window slams shut on September 2nd.
Pogba has been an Arsenal target for some time but the French international ignored the North London club’s advances and completed a free transfer move to Turin last August and went on to make 22 starts in all competitions last term, helping Antonio Conte’s side to a Serie A title triumph.
However the battling midfielder may feel that with Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal all fighting for spots in Juventus’s starting eleven that a move back to the Premier League could be tempting.
Arsene Wenger’s midfield certainly lacks a steely presence and Pogba is not afraid to get stuck in but the rangy youngster also has the ability to spring forwards and make an impact in the final third. It should be noted that the former Man United man did start the Italian Super Cup Final last night, scoring as Juventus thumped Lazio 4-0.
Pogba could provide some much needed protection for the likes of Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere.
