The students, who are studying Entrepreneurship Development under the skill acquisition center of the school, were being manipulated by their lecturer to produce some items so as to get good grades.

Some of the items illegally purchased include: 15 buckets of paint, 15 gallons of 20 liters oil, 30 buckets of custard and many other items produced by 10 students and submitted to the corrupt lecturer without undergoing the right procedure for acquisition of skill.

The lecturer, whose identity is withheld, was alleged to have forced his students to buy these items for his personal use and also extorted them by making them purchase his textbook at an exorbitant amount of N3,000 outside the school premises.

ACTU chairperson, Mrs Nwobi Nnenna, said that they received many reports concerning the unrepentant lecturer and his greed for money.

She complained about the economic challenges in the society and how unfair it was for a lecturer to abuse his office by forcing the students to source for funds at all cost in order to buy the items requested.

She also posited that her unit had confiscated the items after they were led to the building where the lecturer hides the items by her informant.

The Chairperson also took the Rector to the building to see the items and he wept in the open because of the level of corruption going on under his tenure.

He angrily suspended the lecturer, and warned other staff members of the school to desist from engaging in such criminal activities or face the consequences.

He went further to address the students where he explained to them the need to expose lecturers who put them through negative conditions for grades.

The Rector thanked the ACTU team for doing a wonderful job and for redeeming the image of the institution.

He explained the need for the Skill Acquisition Center, which is to enable students to be taught on how to be self employed after their Polytechnic Education and not for criminals.

According to the Rector, the perpetrators of the act have flopped the essence of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme and must pay dearly for it.

“Oko polytechnic have put in place all the required practical equipments and professionals needed to equip the students,” he said.

The Rector further urged all students to study their books and also reiterated his earliest warning to the lecturers who fail students asking them to have a rethink and stop the ilegalities or face the wrath of the law.
