Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation says it has intervened in various sectors and carried out charitable activities worth N290 million since inception in 2013.

The foundation’s Director-General, Amb. Adamu Ibrahim, made this known in Abuja on Saturday at a public lecture to mark the new Islamic year, 1438Ah.

The programme, which was organised by the Abuja Muslim Forum (AMF), has as theme: “ The Significance of Hijra to the Muslims.’’

Ibrahim said that the foundation was established to complement government’s efforts in improving living standards through interventions in the areas of eradicating extreme hunger, poverty and education.

Ibrahim said the foundation was committed to enhancing youth and women empowerment as well provision of potable drinking water in rural communities. Others, he said, included addressing environmental and leadership challenge as well as promoting democratic values.

He added that the charity organisation was also engaged in capacity building for policy makers and complementing government’s efforts in tackling Tropical Neglected Diseases at the grassroots. Ibrahim said that the foundation had pioneered the establishment of an Islamic Insurance Company in the country known as `Jaiz Takaful Insurance Plc..

The company, he said, had been licensed by the National Insurance Commission of Nigeria.

“Similarly, we have established El-Jaiz Investment and Services Ltd., to carry out shariah compliant investments, facility management and human capital outsourcing business.

“The foundation has also established an independent institution called Jaiz and Waqf Trust Fund to handle the collection and distribution of Zakat as well as management of endowment (waqf).

“He advised Muslims to rededicate their minds in total obedience to God in all their endeavors, saying “ the fear of Allah is not only in the mosques but in all aspects of our lives.”

“Whether you are a civil servant, a businessman, an artisan, a banker or a taxi driver, you must have the fear of Allah and that one day, you will stand before Him to account for your actions,” he added.

Dr Musa Olaofe, the guest lecturer and Chief Imam of Ansar-ud-deen Society, Abuja Branch, appealed to Muslims to ensure regular visits to Internally Displaced Persons camps in order to assist victims. (NAN)
