Kerosine Scarcity: Ex-Militants Set to Strom N’ Assembly

2 Min Read

Due to the unending problem of kerosene scarcity and the hardship which has resulted from it, some former militant leaders from the Niger Delta region, yesterday, threatened to disrupt legislative session of the National Assembly if by next Monday nothing is done, the peaceful protest is believed to be over the persistent scarcity of kerosene and alleged gross inability of Pipeline and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, to increase supply of the product in the country.

They also threatened to march to the National Assembly over the alleged unwarranted attacks and insults on President Goodluck Jonathan by opposition groups and political parties in the country.

The former militant  leaders, under the aegis of the Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiatives, LPCDI, said though the protest march to the National Assembly would  be peaceful, they were calling for an independent investigation into the persistent scarcity of kerosene. They want the sack of the Managing Director of PPMC over alleged failure to make the product available.

LPCDI, in a statement in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, said it had entered into  collaboration with other civil society groups nationwide to stage a warning and peaceful protest march against the persistent scarcity of kerosene and the unwarranted and disrespectful verbal attacks on the President and the glaring failure to effectively address the issue of kerosene scarcity in the country.
