Ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Zambia, the Nigeria Football Federation has asked foreign-based players who were invited for the match to buy their flight tickets.
According to Africa football, the NFF has promised to reimburse the players upon arrival to Abuja.
It has also been gathered that the players are being owed several match bonuses and other allowances.
One of the players who spoke on the development said, “This is not good for our morale going into a big game lie the one in Zambia.”
It was learnt that the players’ camp allowances for last month’s AFCON qualifier in Uyo was paid by the Akwa Ibom State government.
Similarly, John Mikel Obi had rescued the Olympic team from disgrace during the just concluded Olympic game in which the under 23 team won bronze medal in Brazil.
There have been reports earlier that the NFF claimed that it can’t afford to sponsor the Nigerian senior team, the Super Eagle, but the chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has dispelled the report as mere rumor without substance.
Pinnick therefore called for calm and urged the football fan to rally behind the team.
