Mr Yusuf Salami, the state’s sector commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that the offenders committed 2,040 offences in August.
He said that 553 offenders were arrested for not using their seat-belts while driving, making it the most prevalent offence committed.
“Other offenders include: 531 riding motorcycles without wearing crash helmets, and 321 driving with expired or worn-out tyres ,’’ he said.
He said that the other 413 offenders committed other minor offences.
Salami who assured the public of the command’s commitment to reduce road crashes, also tasked motorists on obeying traffic rules and regulations.
“The FRSC is doing everything possible to minimize crashes on our roads, but the only way to achieve this is with the cooperation of all and sundry.
“Drivers complying with traffic rules and regulations is, however, not negotiable,” he said. (NAN)
