“Increase It And Die” – Nigerians Respond Angrily To Rumours Of Fresh Fuel Hike

1 Min Read
Fuel price

Nigerians, cutting across all regions and religions, are protesting a planned hike in the price of fuel by the Federal Government.

The planned increase was brought to the fore during a meeting between past and present Group Managing Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

The former GMDs said the PMS price cap of N145 per litre is not congruent with the liberalization policy especially with the foreign exchange rate and other price determining components such as crude cost, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) charges, among others, remaining uncapped.

According to the GMDs statement, the price would be better reflected at just over N150.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have both condemned the proposal to hike fuel prices.

The Herald observed the attitude of Nigerians to the planned proposal on social media.
