Mark Zuckerberg Gives His Verdict on Jollof Rice Wars

2 Min Read

The Jollof rice wars between Nigeria and Ghana have been raging for years, it’s a battle as old as time itself and it seems that it may finally have ended.

Mark Zuckerberg came to Nigeria yesterday unannounced which led to a frenzy online as people went ballistic over the Facebook founder’s visit.

He had a lot of important things to do in Lagos including appraising the tech space and how it is doing in terms of growth and so on.

But his most important mission, more than helping the tech industry, more than visiting any dignitary, was to give his verdict on Nigerian Jollof rice.

He did try it (though we have no idea where) and he has said what thinks about it; he loves it!

His words, “Yesterday, I had jollof rice and shrimp. It was delicious, fantastic. I was told not to compare Nigeria’s jollof rice to that from other neighbouring countries.”

While he did not say Nigeria has won the battle, Nigerians did not care, they took to Twitter to celebrate this significant victory.

In the face of a floundering economy, corruption, unemployment and inflation, it’s a testament to the resilence of Nigerians that they can have a good laugh at Mark Zuckerberg’s declaration.

You can check out some of the tweets on the matter below.
