Mr Isaac Onukwuba, Enugu State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) has advised Nigerians to patronise made in Nigeria goods and services.
Onukwuba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday that the craze and love for foreign made goods and services by Nigerians would compound the hardship in the country.
According to him, the present economic downturn will be reversed if Nigerians produce, patronise, sell and consume locally made goods and services.
Onukwuba said this while commenting on Made-in-Nigeria utility vehicle called “Transform Nigeria Vehicle’’ manufactured by Innoson Motors in Nnewi, Anambra.
“NOA is leading the transformation both in words and action in order to send a clear message to Nigerians.
“Today I personally consume locally made Rice, Beans, Cassava as well as owning a garden where I grow some of the little items I need in my home.
“As a nation, the situation we find ourselves calls for us to restructure our consumption pattern, redirect our values and habits towards production and consumption of locally made goods and services.
“Our Naira is dying because of the quantum of high level of import and other capital flights from the country.
According to him, no country in the World can survive if it depends on nearly 100 per cent import and craze for foreign goods and services.
The director said that buying and selling made-in-Nigeria products and services should be done with the highest sense of national pride because “this is our own’’.
He explained that this was the only way we could gain from the rest of the world.
“Promoting Made-in-Nigeria is the surest way of making Nigeria and Nigerians survive the current situation.
“Those countries where we run to get all these imported products applied the same principles to build their economy.’’
