The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has urged the National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) to explore the hydrocarbon potentials of green frontier basins to increase country depleting reserves.
This is contained in a statement by Alhaji Garba Deen Muhammad, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, on Thursday in Abuja
It said that Dr Maikanti Baru, Group Managing Director, gave the advice when he received the leadership of NAPE, led by its National President, Mr Nosa Omorodion at the NNPC Towers.
He said the association was very critical in the Oil and Gas Industry, especially in promoting policy formulations that had led to the growth of exploration of hydrocarbon resources in the country.
He urged NAPE to play a key role of promoting public private partnership in the exploration of some of the green frontier basins.
He added that the Federal Government would be willing to make provisions for incentives for such prospective investors.
Earlier, Omorodion said the primary objective of the association was to promote excellent ideas in the exploration of hydrocarbon which had contributed to the passage of landmark legislations like the Local Content Act.
He felicitated with the GMD on his appointment and added that the association would confer on him Honourary Membership Award.
The award, he said, would be confered on him due to his outstanding records in the sector, adding that it was the highest award from the association. (NAN)
