Gareth Bale has dashed any hope from other clubs to have him in their playing ranks as he has signed a contract extension to continue playing for the European champions till on until 2021.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s own renewal will be announced in September meaning that two of the clubs biggest stars will be staying at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Bale’s recent performances – in the European Championship for his country and last season for his club – have been spectacular, and Real wanted to reward the same with a deserved renewal.
An associated salary increase, which will see his annual earnings hit 10 million euros net, will place him on an equal footing to captain Sergio Ramos and just behind Ronaldo as the highest earners at the club.
They’re not the only ones committing themselves long-term to Madrid either, Martin Odegaard will also continue at the club until 2021.
Although he’ll ply his trade at an as yet unnamed destination for this coming season, his future remains with Los Blancos who believe he is a real star in the making.
