More than 100 soldiers are still at large after last month’s coup attempt in Turkey, according to Defence Minister Fikri Isik.
The 137 “deserters” include nine generals and admirals.
According to Prime Minister Binali Yildiri, a total of 36 soldiers involved with the uprising were killed on the night of July 15, while 49 injured soldiers were arrested that night.
He said that the exact number of soldiers arrested since then is unclear.
Yildirim recently spoke of some 20,355 suspects being in investigative custody, among them were police officers, soldiers, justice system and clerical workers as well as civilians.
Since the coup attempt, 3,725 soldiers have been sacked from the army, air force, navy, gendarmerie and coastguard.
