The past 50 years of Lamborghini production have seen the introduction of some of the fastest and most beautiful cars in the world.
Lamborghinis have managed to make Ferraris feel a little tame by comparison ever since.
In 1997, the company was acquired by the Volkswagen Group and placed under Audi’s aegis.
Here are our picks of the 5 best Lambos ever made.
5. Gallardo, 2003–2013
The “more affordable” Lambo was a huge commercial success for the brand, which long struggled with profitability. The voracious V10 was named after a breed of Spanish fighting bull, like many of its brethren.
4.Reventón, 2008
The most expensive Lamborghini ever built at the time was a reminder that notwithstanding the Gallardo, the marque was still invested in extreme automobiles. Only 21 were produced for collectors worldwide.
3.Aventador, 2011–Present
With DNA from the Reventón, the Aventador marked the influence of stealth fighter jets on Lamborghini’s design team, with a V12 engine to match. Nearly five years after its debut it still draws stares.
2.Sesto Elemento, 2011
Moving beyond the supercar into the reel of the hypercar, the most extreme and expensive Lamborghini ever (at about £1.4 million) is a carbon fiber tour de force. It can do 0-62 mph in just 2.5 seconds.
1.Huracán, 2014–Present
The latest Lambo looks to be a roaring success, even with a base price of £180,720. With tons of technical and mechanical improvements over the Gallardo, it is merely the latest in a long line of epic, eye-popping vehicles to bear the famed Lamborghini name.
