The Iranian government has executed a group of 20 terrorist Sunni prisoners for committing several murders and undermining national security.
Prosecutor General, Mohammad Montazeri, said on Thursday in Tehran that the terrorist executions were carried out by hanging on Tuesday.
He said that the men, members of a Sunni terrorist and criminal group in Kurdistan province, had killed dozens of people, including women and children.
Meanwhile, Iran’s intelligence ministry has issued a statement detailing 24 armed attacks between 2009 and 2011, including bombings and robberies, apparently by a single group.
The ministry highlighted that the “Tawhid and Jihad” extremist outfit were responsible for the deaths of 21 people in three western provinces at that time span.
The Justice Bureau in Kurdistan also confirmed the mass hanging on Tuesday.
The bureau said they were also accused of attacks on police stations which had killed several officers.
