New charges have been preferred against the former Minister of Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The new charges is contained in a suit filed by the ICPC before an Abuja High Court implicating Orubebe in a N2bn diversion scandal.
The fund allegedly diverted according to the ICPC was meant for the dualisation of Section IV of the East-West Road.
The new charges lists Oludare Lawrence Alaba, Ephraim Towelde Zaki and Gitto Construction Limited as respondents in the five-count charge bordering on alleged corruption, diversion of funds and perjury.
Orubebe was also accused of falsifying claims for the dualisation of the Eket – Oron Road, part of the East-West Road which runs from Edo to Bayelsa states as he allegedly instructed the construction company, Gitto Construction, to rehabilitate the roads instead of dualising it.
