It is said that “An unengaged mind is the Devils Playground”, well, guess this is the exact situation that transpired as yesterday protesting students shut Lagos traffic down to a halt. Our reporters witnessed placard carrying students barricaded Ikorodu Road at Onipan area bemoaning their fate as they have been compelled to, yet again, sit at home due to the strike actions embarked upon by the lecturers.
The protest brought traffic on the ever busy Ikorodu road to a halt as the students danced and played football in the middle of the highway.
Traffic was witnessed from the National Stadium in Surulere straight down to Onipan area of Lagos as at 2pm. As the day progressed, both sides of the road got blocked and for anyone who knows Lagos, that person would know how a ridge lock in one area can lead to a complete traffic shut down in other areas and even with the best efforts of the Lagos State Traffic Management Unit, the situation stayed hopeless.
It is the general hope that the members of the academic unions and the federal government find a lasting solution to this predicament and save us all the associated stress.
