In a bid to conduct free, fair and safe re-run senatorial/House of Representative elections in Rivers State, a crucial meeting was held between the major players in the political and security sphere of the country.
IGP Ibrahim Idris met with the Director-General of Department of State Services, DSS, Alhaji Musa Daura. Also present were Governor Nyesom Wike and Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.
The meeting focused mainly on how to conduct the elections in a safe and free manner as opposed to the recent election violence that has plagued the state.
Wike and Amaechi on opposite sides of the party divide, both pledged to play by the rules and strive for a peaceful re-run election.
The pair also agreed to meet again in Port-Harcourt to solidify the peace plans and chart a proper course to lasting peace in the state.
