Ali Modu Sheriff has been resolute in his stance that he’s the National chairman of the PDP, but latest reports indicate that he may be softening that stance and is ready to wave the white flag.
The veteran politician had landed somewhat in hot water when he presented a candidate for the Edo gubernatorial elections, a move the PDP frowned at and even requested the arrest of Sheriff.
It seems now though that both parties are willing to talk it out and come to a mutual understanding.
This comes from former PDP National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh who spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the two major factions of the PDP, the Makarfi and Sheriff factions, were in talks.
“I want to make this point clear, the caretaker committee that is represented and led by Makarfi and the Ali Modu Sheriff-led PDP have been discussing. We have been looking for ways to make peace,” Dr. Ojougboh said.
“We are insisting that Sheriff must be recognised as the chairman. The condition for peace is very interesting. There is no court judgement that can solve PDP problem,” he added.
