Gov. Bello assures Kogi residents of improved security

2 Min Read

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi, on Wednesday in Okene, promised to improve on the security of lives and property in the state.

Bello, who made this pledge shortly after observing the Eid prayer, said that the state had mobilised the security agencies and placed them on the at alert to forestall any threat to peace.

The governor said criminals would no longer have any hiding place in the state but urged residents to play their own part by reporting suspicious persons or movements to security agents.

He also expressed sympathy with the civil servants, who were yet to receive their salaries, assuring that the problem would soon be a thing of the past.

According to him, the delay in salary is due to the just concluded screening and verification exercise of workers, adding that only the names of genuine workers will remain on the payroll .

Bello also promised that the report of the screening committee will be fully implemented.

The governor, who later paid a Sallah homage on the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, urged Muslims to continue to live in peace with other people.

The Ohinoyi, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, while receiving the governor, charged Muslims to practise the lessons learnt from the fasting period in their everday activities.

The monarch also called on the people to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to accelerate development in the state.

He admonished youths to shun crimes and other societal vices capable of tarnishing the good image of the state.

“God has given us a governor, who is ready to develop the state, we should not involve in any behaviours that could distract him from achieving his dreams for the state,” Ohinoyi said. (NAN)
