Borussia Dortmund has confirmed Henrikh Mkhitaryan will join Manchester United.
In a statement on the Bundesliga side’s website, it was confirmed that after ‘intensive discussions’ the 27-year-old will move to Old Trafford.
“This transfer was for us on the basis of an entirely new starting situation a difficult balancing advance: Manchester has made us a tremendous value containing offer,” said Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.
“Had we knocked it, the player would be 2017 changed free. And we have the personnel issue postponed by only one year.”
The Armenian will become United’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mkhitaryan had one year left on his contract but told Dortmund he would not sign a renewal.
Yesterday, the deal appeared to have been done after pictures from the club shop emerged online showing shirts with Mkhitaryan’s name on the back.
Last season he scored 18 goals last season in the Bundesliga, Europa League and the German Cup.
