Ali Modu Sheriff: Faction Reacts To Alleged Court Order

2 Min Read

The factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff has reacted to an alleged order handed down by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court ordering his vacation from office.

Ali Modu Sheriff in a statement signed by his faction’s National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, released yesterday, Wednesday, noted that the ruling delivered by the court had nothing to do with his tenure or that of his predecessor, Adamu Mu’azu.

Further in the statement, Sheriff described the reports as “completely false and a clear misrepresentation” of the court’s ruling.

He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the court only heard and delivered judgment on a matter concerning certain amendments in the PDP constitution, which has nothing to do with the election of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman or even that of his predecessor, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.

“We therefore urge those misleading the media and the unsuspecting public to desist from such.

“The media is also urged to always cross-check their facts before going to press”.

Recall that Ali Modu Sheriff while meeting with state chairmen of the party yesterday disclosed his willingness to vacate office should be party leadership request it adding that his aim was not to compulsorily be the party’s National Chairman.
