Yesterday marked the last day of active service for Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase. He has been replaced by Ibrahim Idris.
Arase was retired due to his age as he turned 60 a few days ago which is the compulsory age of retirement from service.
According to the Vanguard, Arase is not alone in the retirement list, 6 deputy Inspector Generals are to be retired with him.
The 6 to be retired are;
1. Dan-Azumi Job Doma, DIG in charge Finance and Administration (A) department,
2. DIG Sotonye Wakama, DIG in charge Operations (B) department,
3. DIG Ibrahim Mamman Tsafe, DIG in charge Logistics and Supplies (C) department.
4. DIG Kakwa Christopher Katso, DIG in charge Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID),
5. DIG Cynthia Amaju Onu, DIG in charge ICT,
6. DIG Jubril Olawale Adeniji
This means that there are pending appointments for the DIG spots. The federal government with the input of the new IGP will go ahead to appoint new DIGs sometime in the future.
