A group, Coalition of Muhammadu Buhari Support Groups (COMBUSUG), on Saturday in Abuja, urged Nigerians to always pray for the nation and its leaders.
The group made this call at an event tagged: ‘National Prayer to commemorate Buhari’s first year in office.’
At the event Christian and Muslim clerics prayed for the continuous unity, peace prosperity and progress of the country.
The Deputy Chief Imam of the Abuja National Mosque, Malam Kabiru Adamu, in his sermon at the occasion said, ”It is the duty of every Nigerian to keep praying for peace.
”God in His infinite mercies created us differently, male and female and allowed us to speak different languages.
”In keeping with peace if you go to the national mosque, you will hear the sermon in one of the Nigerian languages, last Friday it was in Igbo.
”Why? because God wants us to live in peace. Respect your neighbours. Pray for unity, progress, prosperity and development of Nigeria,” Adamu said in his sermon.
Also speaking, Pastor Afolayan Daniel, said the Bible urged Christians to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for their leaders.
”This is our Jerusalem. We must pray for our country so that we can live together in peace. Nigerians complain a lot without praying for their leaders.
”It shouldn’t be. If they are rightly guided, we would be the first beneficiaries of right, focused and purposeful leadership,” he said. (NAN)
