Mrs. Nkechi Chukwurah, Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State barely escaped death when she was fired upon by an assailant.
Worse still was that the assailant was her own security aide, who should have been protecting her.
He security aide simply called David had opened fire on her from close range when she had entered into her SUV after a church service.
David had been pounced on by his colleagues who stopped the onslaught.
Mrs Chukwurah, only just returned to office after serving a suspension by the state House of Assembly over allegations of misappropriation of public funds, said that the bullets hit her at the stomach, hand and thighs.
According to the Sun, on interrogation, David said he’d heard voices which encouraged him to shoot.
Mrs. Chukwurah narrating the incident said, “My orderly just opened the door for me to enter the vehicle while the policeman sitting in the in the front seat turned and face me with his gun.The next thing I saw was fire all over me, as he shot at me consistently. I was lucky the bullet did not open my stomach. I was hit in other parts. It was God who saved my life.”
