2 Min Read

Jigawa State Government has warned traditional medicine sellers in the state to stop the use of foul language when marketing their products.

Alhaji Yusuf Magaji, Director, Films Censorship and Multimedia, Jigawa History and Culture Bureau, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Saturday.

Magaji said that the bureau, charged with the responsibility of regulating such activities, would no longer allow the use of microphones for advertisements herbal medicines in the state.

He said that the words used by the herbalists in selling their wares were offensive to the moral, religious and cultural lifestyles of the people of the state.

“You see, the words these herbalists use are taboo and vulgar; they are very immoral, unreligious and contrary to our cultural styles.

“Also, they shamelessly use microphone to say all these words in the presence of children, women and the elderly persons; they are against our cultural belief,’’ Magaji said.

He advised the herbalists to desist from doing so or face the wrath of the law.

According to him, the agency will not condone the use of unguarded utterances by traditional medicine sellers in advertising their products.

Magaji, however, said that the agency was ready to partner the herbalists, especially in the areas of creating awareness.
He urged them to support and cooperate with the bureau to promote the good cultural value of the people. (NAN)
