Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC have laid hands on one of the gang members alleged to have carried out the bombing operation on the Agip petroleum facility last week.
The arrested suspect identified as Suoyo Nathan was reported to have been the group leader of militants who blew up the Tebidaba-Brass trunkline around Ikienghenbiri community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Reports revealed that operatives of the agency arrested the militant leader yesterday in the swamp and is currently on the trail of two others identified as Iyalewei and Fyneboy.
Sources in the community confirmed the presence of high scale surveillance of the swamp areas as Air Force fighter jets, gunboats and helicopters have been patrolling the area.
Sources also confirmed the ban on night movement in the area.
Confirming the arrest, a top source within the agency said:“The suspect is in our custody. He was arrested today (yesterday) with the assistance of NAOC surveillance team and would be prosecuted at the conclusion of ongoing investigation”
