The Ijaw Youths have once again reiterated their support for the former President Goodluck Jonathan as the group yesterday warned President Buhari against initiating an arrest on the ex-president in connection with the ongoing probe of massive fraud and embezzlement alleged to have taken place under his administration.
The Ijaw Youths handed down the warning yesterday at a meeting held at the Wellington Hotel Effurrun, Delta State. The meeting themed “The ideals of Adaka Boro and the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta: The way forward,” was organised in celebration of Major Isaac Boro.
The Ijaw youths accused Buhari of limiting his anti-corruption campaign only to the former president Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The group’s President, Udengs Eradiri while speaking at the annual event challenged Buhari and the APC-led government to probe the Halliburton scandal under the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to prove that it does not have a witch-hunt agenda.
Eradiri addressing the issue of renewed militant action in the Niger Delta region said: “People have started discussing. There was a meeting in Abuja yesterday (Wednesday) but I told them that such a meeting would not work.
“If they want us to talk, they must first open the Maritime University and start admitting students, then we would now sit and talk. The same issues for which Adaka Boro and Ken Saro-Wiwa were killed are the same issues the Avengers are raising.
“There are no Avengers anywhere. Settle these issues and the avengers would fizzle away.”
