In the wake of the ousting of the chairman of the PDP, Alimodu Sheriff, party member and Executive Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has come out to give the reason the controversial chairman was sacked.
According to Gov. Wike, Alimodu was removed because his leadership was destabilizing the party.
The governor revealed this in an interview on Saturday night after the convention. He said “All along, the crisis has been about the former acting chairman whose emergence was strongly opposed.
“This is destabilising the party and so we had to let him go. What is important is the party and not the individual. No sacrifice is too much for anyone to make as far as PDP is concerned,”
Wike was confident of the growth of PDP and spoke about the party growing from strength to strength “We will not allow the PDP to die or suffer divisions under our watch. History will never forgive us if we watch the party die.”
He was pleased that despite the recent challenges that the PDP had faced, that the 2016 convention could still be termed a monumental success.
