Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode  of Lagos State on Saturday reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for commerce and industry to thrive in the state.

Ambode, represented by his deputy, Dr Idiat Adebule, made the commitment at the 2016 Commerce and Industry Awards organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Lagos.
He said that the government had established the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment to serve as a one-stop shop for all matters relating to investment in the state.
”We have established N25 billion Employment Trust Fund to address the challenge of access to funds by young entrepreneurs with innovative and creative ideas.
”This is a strategic plan to stimulate demand and also kick start the campaign for made in Nigeria products.
”We shall ensure we sustain the tempo and remain focused in our determination to make life comfortable for everyone, ” Ambode said.
Also speaking, Mr Phillip Asiodu, Chairman of the event, noted that unsustained policies, abandoned projects and constant change in regime contributed to the dwindling Nigerian economy.
He urged government at all levels to create the enabling environment to attract investors and encourage entrepreneurs in the country.
Mr Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, said that the Assembly would continue to promote policies that would grow the economy and enhance national development.
In her remarks, Dr Nike Akande, President, LCCI, said that the award was to recognise deserving corporate organisations and public institutions who contributed to the development of the nation’s economy.
”The award is to recognise, promote and celebrate private and public institutions operating in Nigeria for best business practices, growth through innovation, business sustainability and positive impact on the people and the society, ”she said.
