The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in its fight against corruption obtained a remand order to detain a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode for 14 days pending investigation into his alleged involvement in the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign funds.
The former aviation Minister who served as the Director of publicity for the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation is being investigated by the EFCC for allegedly receiving N840m while serving on the campaign board.
The remand order which expires in 14 days could be further renewed by the anti-graft agency depending on the outcome of its investigation into the case.
Recall that Fani-Kayode admitted to receiving the said amount which was traced to have been paid from the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In line with investigations, the anti-graft agency also froze an account belonging to the former aviation Minister.
Fani-Kayode however will remain in detention of the anti-graft agency until the expiry of the court order upholding his detention.
