The deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Honourable Victor Ogene, has confirmed the intention of the Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, to run for the Presidency in 2015.
Speculations have been rife over the ambition of Honourable Tambuwal, after former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, asked him to contest for higher office.
Ogene, at the weekend, had while fielding questions from newsmen, maintained that Honourable Tambuwal had proved himself for the top job, going by his track record in handling affairs of the seventh session of the House which he presided over in the last two years.
He, however, refused to disclose on what party’s ticket Tambuwal will be running.
It is being speculated that the speaker would dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and run on the proposed party formed by the opposition parties in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As it stands today, Tambuwal has displayed good leadership in the House of Representatives. It is only left for Nigerians to determine who will lead them in 2015. Though he has not told us about this, but leadership is done by the people.
“Tambuwal is not a PDP speaker, he is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He can relate with any party in the best interest of Nigerians,” he said.
