Professor Abiodun Alao, a Nigerian will today break a 187-year old academic jinx at the King’s College, University of London, by being the first black man scholar to deliver a lecture since he school was established in 1829.
The Nigerian Scholar, a professor of African studies bagged his professorial title two years ago alongside a Nigerian colleague, Prof. Funmi Olonisakin at the Institution of African Leadership Centre.
Both Nigerian based on their academic prowess and title are the first black Africans to attain professorial cadre at the institution since it was established.
The appointment of both Nigerians has been confirmed by the Institution’s President and Principal, Prof. Edward Byrne AC, justifying their elevation to the professorial cadre at the instance of their contribution to African peace and Security.
