The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday declared Alhaji Mustapha Adamu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council election in the FCT.
The returning Officer, Mr Adamu Tanimu, declared Adamu as the winner in Gwagwalada following a re-run poll conducted to determine the winner of the inconclusive April 9 election.
The re-run poll in the area was held at Gurfata and Ibwa units.
According to the results declared by Tanimu APGA have 678 votes in the supplementary election, bringing its total votes to 15,950 having polled 15,272 votes in the April 9 election.
Alhaji Abubakar Giri of APC, who is the incumbent chairman, garnered 23 votes in the supplementary election, bringing his total votes to 14, 569.
Mr Abdullahi of the PDP polled 682 votes having failed to get a single vote in Wednesday’s re-run election.
“Mustapha Bello of APGA, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes is hereby declared winner and elected,’’ said Tanimu.
