Governor of Kebbi State, Seidu Dakingari has undoubtedly said that the new Kebbi International Airport in Birnin Kebbi will be good to takeoff for commissioning in the next four months.
Dakingari made this known while taking the National Good Governance Team round the airport in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.
He said the airport when 100 percent completed, will open the doors wide enough for investors to come into his state and through this, help the people, mostly farmers, have less difficulty in exporting their farm produce.
The Governor confidently added that the airport would have a huge impact on tourism potentials of the state and create thousands of jobs to the teaming unemployed youths, saying that the Federal Ministry of Aviation approved the ongoing upgrade.
The Executive Governor also said that the then air strip, which is now undergoing an upgrade to an airport of international standard, would assist in conveying pilgrims to holy lands directly as from November this year. He said the contract sum is a whooping N13.5 billion which was awarded in the month of August, 2011.
Zonal Manager of the firm handling the project, Jiang Wei, promised that work will be completed by the time agreed upon, of which 85 per cent completion has already been achieved.
The state government had fully mobilized the company for completion of the project so as to meet the deadline.
