Following the clash between the Pharaohs of Egypt and The Super Eagles of Nigeria which ended in 1-1 draw, mixed reactions and challenges have followed suit especially in the build up to the second leg of the game which is scheduled for Tuesday.
In light of the first leg and its result, Mohamed Salah, an Egyptian player has yesterday expressed his relief that the Pharaohs did not defeat the home team.
He said; “I breathed a sigh of relief after the ref blew the final whistle,” adding that his fears were in connection with the number of home team fans present at the stadium especially as he was about to score one-on-one chance against the home team.
The 23-year old player told Al-Ahram Daily newspaper that; “I was afraid when I received the ball and was heading directly towards the goal to score what could have been the winner,
“Had I been able to score, I wouldn’t have been able to tell what exactly the fans’ response would be, that’s why I thanked God right after the final whistle.”
