The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai, has reiterated the Army’s commitment to bringing insurgency to its knees in the country within the shortest time possible.
He said this when he visited Oyo Sate Governor, Abiola Ajimobi on Tuesday.
He, however, called on Nigerians to assist the military with information that can help in the fight against insurgency, especially in the North East.
Buratai said: “We will soon overcome the insurgency that once threatened peace and security in some parts of the country. I’m using this opportunity to again solicit the support of the public in the provision of information on any suspicious acts or criminal activities.
“The army will adopt a long term surveillance and intelligence gathering to stop Boko Haram attacks.”
Buratai, who was accompanied by high-ranking military officers, including the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Maj.-Gen. Laz Ilo, was received on behalf of the governor by the Deputy Governor, Moses Alake Adeyemo.
