Libya Deports 172 Nigerians

172 Nigerians living in Libya have on Friday been deported back into the country over several immigration irregularities according to the Libyan Government.

The Libyan Deportees, 166 Males and 6 Females arrived at the Hajj Camp area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 7:00 am on Friday morning.

The Nigerian Immigration Services, NIS, through its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ekpedeme King disclosed in a phone conversation with a correspondent that deportation was true but could not further disclose the registration number of the Deportees carrier aircraft.

The Deportees went through the Immigration officers who checked their identified for any irregularities, the National Agency for  Protection and Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, and other concerned relevant agencies.

The NIS PRO, Mr. King revealed that the Deportees who have since found their way and dispersed into the country were repatriated to the country for overstaying their visas in Libya amongst other immigration offences.

“What I can tell you is that some Nigerians were deported today (yesterday) for immigration offences. Most of those brought overstayed Libya.”
