Stoke City Forward Odemwingie Donates Food Items, Cash To Orphanage‎

2 Min Read

England-based Nigerian forward, Osaze Odemwingie, on Thursday donated food items and cash to the Iwinosa Orphanage in Benin as part of his contribution to the upliftment of the less privileged.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items were donated on behalf of the Stoke City FC player by a former Super Eagles’ coach, Austine ‎Eguavoen.

“The less privileged ones must be integrated into the larger society, by showing them love and kindness.

“Having been exposed to various sides of life, life to me will only make a meaning if smiles can be put on the faces of these less privileged children.‎

“It’s important to me that these children are happy.

“I believe in the children. One cannot tell what the future holds for each and every one of us,” the former Bendel Insurance FC player said.

‎He said he was seeing in them great men and women who would excel in their chosen career, including playing football.

“I believe in developing the children and this is just a way of giving back to the society.

“It is good to see that the children are doing great and happy too.

“Also, this is part of my little contribution to making them happy in this home, because I understand that the rent is almost expiring.

“Therefore, the cash is also to help in picking the bill and renewing the rent,” Odemwingie said.‎‎

Responding, the proprietor of the orphanage, Veronica Egbon, thanked the donor and thanked God for his life and his act of remembering the children in their times of need.

NAN reports that the items donated include cartons of Indomie noodles, bags of rice, toiletries, baby food and wipes, and jerry cans of cooking oil.‎(NAN)
