2 Min Read

The Nigerian Police Force has rescued the three school girls kidnapped from the Babington Macaulay Junior Secondary School, Agunfoye-Lugbusi, Ikorodu.

The girls – Timilehin Olosa, Tofunmi Popoolaniyan and Deborah Akinayo – were kidnapped from their school on Monday, February 29.

They were rescued in the early hours of Sunday and they were neither hurt nor molested.

The Commissioner for Information in Lagos, Steve Ayorinde, confirmed the girls’ rescue in a tweet.

He said: “The three abducted school girls in Ikorodu have been rescued by the Police. Lagos is working. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode salutes the courage of the Police.”

The girls were rescued from Igbokuta creek, not far from their school.

The kidnappers, it was gathered, came with seven boats to the school and took the kidnapped girls to Adama creeks, not far from the school.

Some suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction, including a key suspect – Emmanuel Arikiti – who was nabbed by the Special Intelligence Response Team (SIRT) of the Inspector General of Police.

Also nabbed were two suspects who helped the kidnappers to register the SIM card they used to contact the victims’ parents.

The other two were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

The police say it is still on the trail on the other suspects who are on the run.
