As shocking as this may be, it is true.
A member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ejigbo, Lagos, was arrested on Tuesday by the church’s private guard with N5,000 in his possession.
The arrested suspect simply identified as Kingsley, was in possession of N5,000 which he allegedly stole. Further investigations into the suspected culprit revealed that he had previously been apprehended for the same offence.
Kingsley who had like other church members attended regular mass on Tuesday had stayed back after the service, pretending to have a personal prayer time.
When the church cleared out, he reportedly produced a glue coated stick which he dipped into the church offering box and pulled out then stick along with some glued notes.
Unknown to him, one of the church private securities had witnessed his little scandal, he was searched on his exit and N5,000 was recovered.
Kingsley was taken to the parish head who begged he be released on compassionate grounds but he ended up behind bars as he assaulted his wife once he got home and was reported to the Ejigbo Police Division.
He blamed his irresponsible activities on his inability to cater for his pregnant wife.
