The Benue State Government has revealed that 1,061 ghost workers on the payroll of public schools in the previous administration have been detected.
Speaking at the State Capital, Makurdi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Titus Zam, made the disclosure while transiting responsibility of the payment of staff of public schools to the State Universal Basic Education Board.
Zam, revealed that the contrary to the 24,502 workers the administration inherited from the previous, upon conducting a staff audit process by the State Government, 23,441 genuine staffs were ascertained.
He also urged the management of SUBEB to be prudent in resource dealings and be firm in implementing the administration’s policies as they affect the development of primary education in the state.
