Ex-National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for his continued detention by the Department of State Security (DSS) since December 29, 2015.
Dasuki who spoke through his counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN), claimed that Buhari unjustly instigated his arrest and detention by the Department of the State Security (DSS) against the bail granted him by three different courts in various criminal charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
Dasuki, who is facing three separate sets of criminal charges before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, and the Federal High Court in Abuja, stated this in an affidavit which his lawyers filed in support of his application seeking to be discharged from further trial.
The counsel said the president ‘openly’ stated these men have committed heinous crimes against the society and will not be released. He also added that his team has filed a further and better affidavit in support of Dasuki’s application, claiming a betrayal by the president during his chat with the media. Daudu added that his client has been incommunicado since his incarceration, thus delaying his preparation for the allegations leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“There is a need for the law to be applied in its sterile manner,” Daudu said.
After listening to parties, Justice Affen fixed March 4, 2016 to give ruling on the application.
The federal government had filed criminal charges against Dasuki, Former Minister of State for Finance Mr. Bashir Yuguda and three others bothering on money laundering, breach of trust and corruption.
