A 32-year-old man, Friday Felix, was on Friday charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly abducting one Jeliat Saka.

The accused, who resides at No.15 Ayomide Street, Itele, Ota, is facing a two-count charge of abduction and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused and others at large, committed the offences on Feb.4 at about 10:00 p.m. at Ajibawo, in Ota.

He said that the accused and his accomplices conspired among themselves to abduct one Jelilat Saka.

“The accused and his accomplices abducted the complainant without her consent and took her to Libya,” he said.

Gbesi said that the offences contravened Sections 361 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He said that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.

Banwo also directed that the sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of one year tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

In addition, the sureties should submit four recent passport photographs to the court and possess reasonable means of identification.

The case was adjourned till March 22, for hearing. (NAN)
