Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Sani Mohammed-Bako as the new Emir of Karshi following his selection by the traditional kingmakers.
Aliyu Ahmed, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, told newsmen on Saturday in Lafia that the new First Class Emir was unanimously selected by the kingmakers.
The new emir, who is from the Kokosa Ruling House, succeeded his father, late Muhammadu Bako II, who died on Feb. 9, after a brief illness.
The 44-year-old monarch, who holds a Doctorate degree was, until his appointment as the 27th Emir of Karshi, an employee of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.
Ahmed said the appointment of the new emir was with effect from Feb. 20, 2016.
